Frequently asked questions:

Q.

Do you have to pay extra to play indoor soccer and if so, how much does it cost??

A.

Indoor is an optional, but highly recommended activity.  It is not included in the standard registration fee.  Fees depend on the age level of the team and how many are participating.  For more specific details, consult a board member.

Q.

Once a player makes the team, how many times a week do they practice and what are the usual practice times for U-13 or U-14 girls?

A.

The time/frequency of practices is left to the coach's discretion.  Most teams practice two or three times a week.  Usually weekday late afternoons or early evenings.  Most teams practice at Ackerman.

Q.

Do all the kids who tryout make it onto a team?  Are there different levels according to their skill level?

A.

WCFC is a select soccer club.  Not all players who tryout will be selected.  The club uses a tryout process to help make the selections.  Selections are based mainly on skill level, although a good attitude and a strong desire to play certainly doesn't hurt.

A few age levels may have more than one team separated by skill level, but most have just a single team.

Q.

Where are the "field tryouts" for the U11 girls on June 9th & 10th?

Do we need to bring $35.00 to the tryouts?

A.

Alll tryouts will be held at Ackerman County Park (see Fields/Maps page).  All players must bring a $35.00 check made out to WCFC.  See the Instructions at the bottom of the Tryouts page for more details.

Q.

On the registration form how do we know what our tryout number is?

A.

This is for Club use only.  A number is assigned to each player at the tryouts.

Q.

If the U-15 boys are only going to play one season, the spring season, because they will be playing high school in the fall....why are they being charged virtually the full price?  $300 for 6-8 games and two tournaments seems excessive

 A.

The reason is based on the substantially higher fees across the board to runa high school aged team.  Referee fees are as much as double per game vs. a lower age bracket, tournament entry fees can run $200 higher or more  and we try to allocate our highest trained and experienced coaches to that level.
Training and experience directly coordinates to the contracted rate we have with the coaching staff.

I would encourage people to look at the cost structure to play at other clubs (most are posted on their websites).  We're confident you'll find that not only are our fees in line, they are substantially lower than several area clubs.

Q.

Can you please tell me the actual address for Friedenfeld Park #4?

A.

Maps to away fields can be found by clicking on these links:

     WYSA website (Primary Link).

    MYRSL website (Backup Link).

Home Field Maps can be found by clicking the "Fields/Maps" link on the navigation bar.

Q.

What is the cost for one year of play not including indoor session fees?

A.

The fees at U-14 and below are currently $350 for both fall & spring seasons.  That does not include a uniform.  U-15 & up pay $300 plus the uniform for the season that is opposite their high school's season.  Given that this is our inaugural year, all expenses and fees will be reviewed to insure we are covering everything adequately.  Regardless if an adjustment is needed, we will continue to strive to be one of the lowest cost clubs in the region without a reduction in the quality of the club.

Q.

What has become of the rec soccer program?

A.

WCFC is a select only soccer club and as such we have no direct affiliation with the rec programs for either West bend or Slinger.  Both communities do offer quality recreational soccer programs that are exceptional values for players that are not interested in a select soccer experience.  In West Bend, rec soccer is provided by the Kettle Moraine YMCA (www.kmymca.org) though their Youth Sports program. In Slinger, the Village Rec Department (www.slinger-wi-usa.org/recreation.html) provides youth soccer through the Slinger Soccer Club (www.slingersoccer.com).

Q.

How old must a child be to try out for U11?

A.

A child must not be older than 11 years old as of August 1st of that year.  There is no set minimum age per the WYSA guidelines.  It is very common throughout the state for U-10 eligible players to be playing upon U-11 teams.  This carries through to all U-levels, especially if a club does not have enough players for form a team at a specific age bracket.  Example:  A U-12 team can be made up of players that are U-10, 11 & 12 eligible.  This was the case last year with Slinger's U-12 boy's team.  Both clubs had U-14 teams mixed with U-13 players.
